Dining canal-side at Bea Vita.

Busa alla Torre MURANO VENETIAN/SEAFOOD Escape the island’s glass-shop craze and take a seat in the pleasant dining room or on the terrace beneath the bell tower—the welcome lunch-only respite includes an excellent meal of such specialties as ravioli di pesce. Campo Santo Stefano. 041-739662. Entrees 14€–20€. AE, MC, V. Mon–Sat noon–3:30pm. Vaporetto: Faro. Map p 100.

Cip’s Club GIUDECCA VENETIAN/SEAFOOD Is the view worth the price? Sitting on the wooden terrace overlooking the Giudecca Canal and San Marco is certainly a treat. If the hefty tab for such house specialties as mazzancolle (prawns) with capers is going to break the bank, settle for just a first course, such as the delicious risotto with scallops and baby artichokes—or, for that matter, a cocktail at sunset. Hotel Cipriani. 041-5207744. www.hotelcipriani.com. Entrees 30€–45€. AE, DC, MC, V. Apr–Oct daily 7:30–11:30pm. Vaporetto: Zitelle. Map p 99.

Corte Sconta CASTELLO VENETIAN/SEAFOOD One of the top choices in town for fresh, deftly prepared seafood, much of which comes to the table in delectable pasta dishes and risottos. Reserve well in advance, and request a table in the namesake courtyard. Calle del Pestrin. 041-5227024. www.cortescontavenezia.it. Entrees 14€–22€. MC, V. Tues–Sat 12:30–3pm, 7–10:30pm. Vaporetto: Giardini. Map p 97.

Dai Tosi CASTELLO ITALIAN This is something Venice has all too few of—a friendly neighborhood pizzeria, complete with a rear garden—plus, what’s often touted as the best pizza in town. Handy for the Biennale (p 125), which is held in the adjacent public gardens. Calle Seco Marina. 041-5237102. Entrees 8€–16€. MC, V. Mon–Tues, Thurs noon–2pm; Fri–Sun noon–2pm, 7–9:30pm. Vaporetto: Giardini. Map p 97.

Dalla Marisa CANNAREGIO ITALIAN No serious carnivore will want to leave Venice without enjoying at least one meal at this simple and inexpensive osteria near the Ponte dei Tre Archi. (In fact, you can see this landmark from the tables out front alongside the canal.) Old-fashioned ways still hold sway in the kitchen, which sends out traditional preparations of osso buco (braised veal shanks), tripa (tripe), and other classics. Fondamenta San Giobbe. 041-720211. Entrees 9€–14€. No credit cards. Tues, Thurs–Fri noon–2:30pm, 8–9:15pm; Sat–Mon noon–2:30pm. Closed Aug. Vaporetto: Tre Archi. Map p 98.

Dal Pampo SANT’ELENA VENETIAN/ITALIAN The official name is Osteria Sant’Elena, but everyone knows this busy trattoria in the out-of-the-way Sant’Elena neighborhood as “Pampo’s Place.” Pasta dishes, fritto misto (mixed fry, here of shrimp and calamari), and other traditional favorites, along with bar snacks, satisfy a crowd of regulars. Calle Generale Chinotto. 041-5208419. Entrees 7€–15€. AE, MC, V. Wed–Mon noon–2:30pm, 7:30–9pm. Vaporetto: Giardini. Map p 97.

Da Remigio CASTELLO VENETIAN/SEAFOOD What the busy premises lack in charm is more than compensated by the mostly seafood menu, expertly prepared and featuring such Adriatic staples as fritto misto and fish caught that day and simply grilled. Salizada dei Greci. 041-5230089. Entrees 8€–18€. AE, DC, MC, V. Wed–Sun 12:30–3pm, 7:30–11pm; Mon 12:30–3pm. Vaporetto: Arsenale. Map p 97.

Da Romano BURANO VENETIAN/SEAFOOD Such specialties as a simple risotto flavored with fish broth are memorable, but Romano banks on its celebrated clientele—some famous, others of an artistic bent, whose paintings cover every inch of the walls.
